After many years of working together to raise capital for founders or advise them on their exit, Dave Dirks and Arjan Brienen have decided to join forces and create Goldfish Global.

Goldfish helps founders to raise capital and realize their exit or secondaries. It also enables founders to give back to the ecosystem by investing jointly with Goldfish in early-stage companies. Founders for founders: the 360° approach.

Dave Dirks has over 20 years of experience as a venture capital lawyer at DLA Piper, Certa Legal Group and Steelman, the two latter firms which he co-founded. He has also been an active angel investor since 2012 and is a partner of venture capital firms Keadyn, EVO Venture Partners and Velar Capital, which invest globally in e-commerce, fintech and enterprise software. Dirks also manages tech investments for various family offices.

Arjan Brienen has over 20 years experience as corporate finance and M&A advisor at First Dutch Capital, IMPROVED Corporate Finance and KPN. He has also been active as an angel investor and co-founder of various companies since 2010.

Brienen: “After many cups of coffee over the years, I am excited that we finally took the step to bring our experience together. We’ve been discussing the market we are both active in, and how we can join forces to utilize our strengths together for a while now fully. With Goldfish, we are more dedicated than ever to help founders realize their dreams”.

The ambition of Goldfish is to be a true partner of founders in their journey from start to exit and beyond. Together, Dirks and Brienen have over 40 years of experience in more than 250 transactions to raise capital, realize exits and secondaries and make investments. As a result, they have a large network of founders, investors and strategic buyers and know how to best serve the interest of founders in such transactions.

Two exits already

Goldfish was incorporated at the end of last year and has been operating under the radar so far. The company advised in relation to two successful exits already: Customer Data Platform Squeezely was successfully acquired by Spotler Group in August of 2021.

In March this year, Goldfish guided Dutch data feed management and optimization software company DataFeedWatch to an acquisition by US-based e-commerce company Cart.com.

Goldfish advises founders with raising capital, secondaries and exits and enables founders to co-invest with Goldfish in new talented founders.
